sllin driver crashes on load

During integration testing with the AGL demo unit, it was discovered that the sllin driver crashes on boot if enabled (as the agl-demo-preload feature does).  Investigation revealed that the issue is due to a relatively recent change that also got backported into the stable kernel branches, and that there is a fix in an apparently recently revived upstream.  We need to backport the fix as a patch or upgrade to latest upstream.
