The i.MX6 and i.MX8 machine configurations have some duplication and a bit of staleness around how BSP selection is done, some clean up is warranted.

Since there doesn't seem a strong demand/need to backport this to Koi, I'm going to go ahead and mark as resolved since the cleanup went into 12.0.0.
