In the toyota development, the built image is booted to the reference hardware by nfs boot.
I received comments from Jan-Simon. At IVI-EG, we will discuss whether Production Readiness will support nfs boot or other solutions.

Note that the combination of basesystem with the smack+appfw based demo platform for the 'trial' that was proposed in the previous meetings will not work over NFS. It is simply not possible due to NFS not supporting xattr. It is the reason we use nbd (network block device) in CI.

Just some more explanation for background:

      • The development setup with NFS is indeed a very good thing. And desireable as it is faster than juggling SD-Cards around.
      • But NFS will not work with SELinux or SMACK enabled on the target.
      • This limits your development setup to run in the 'unsecure' mode all the time. And developers do not face the restrictions of either Linux Security Module during development phase. Which can lead to complications during integration.
      • Please discuss how the future setup should look like and consult with the IVI EG members how such goals can be reached.
