@Jean Simon, to get source code unsynchronized from documentation, a good option is effectively to have them sitting in two different repositories. Developers are already reluctant enough to write/review/update documentation. I do not understand how making developer documentation effort harder will help to get a better result.
I do not known who/when this decision was taken, but as it was said by Stephane, I doubt it is going to improve AGL documentation.

This is a stupid decision.

No fetching will be done.
All docs have to be in AGL/documentation in gerrit now.

Some documentation is not up to date regarding https://github.com/automotive-grade-linux/docs-sources. I created .
We'll update Renesas build guide, but other things may be wrong.
Furthermore, fetching markdown documents inside the sources seems not done ATM. Am I right ?
