From time to time, applications do not start.
For instance, from the launcher, trying to start dashboard. On the first attempt:

Then fiddling with other applications, hvac, mediaplayer, and click again on launcher then dashboard starts the application. I've also seen this with hvac. First time you click on it, it doesn't start. Wait a bit more, click on it again, then it starts.
