Determine Yocto/Poky version for Charming Chinook

Description

The SAT needs to determine is we should update to a later version of Yocto for the December release.

Upgraded to YP 2.1 - krogoth for Charming Chinook.

SAT recommends switching to 2.1 for the Charming Chinook release. Walt will send an email about this to the mail list to gather any objections and switch will occur in August some time.

Choices are:

  • YP 2.0 (current AGL version)

  • YP 2.1 (out already)

  • YP 2.2 (scheduled end october)

2.2 Features (planned):

  • Move to python 3.x

  • Multi-configurations, multiple machine builds, distributed builds

  • improvements/adoption of Toaster, eSDK, CROPS

The move to python 3 and multi-configuration builds will likely reveal regressions in various layers.
