The open sourced version of the Hitachi navigation app is considered a demo application. AGL needs to provide a common Navigation API so that different navigation providers can be enabled in the AGL ecosystem. AisinAW has proposed creating a new Navigation expert group. Members include AisinAW, Hitachi, and Micware. If the new EG is approved by the SAT we will solicit additional members via email.

Notes from SAT Meeting on July 12, 2016 1) SAT opinion is that creating the API should be done using a reference navigation application rather than using the GENIVI API since this be closer to a usable implementation. 2) Augment the reference implementation API with the GENIVI API. 3) Open source implementations available include the recent Hitachi donation to AGL and the NAVIT open source project. Is the plan to create the proposed demo using one of those projects? 4) Generally SAT would approve the EG if there is 5 - 10 participants. Recommend hosting this in the Graphics and UI EG with AisinAW taking the lead of this subteam.
