Yes, I found that the bug is only visible if the state cache is removed what took time.
Jan-Simon beat me with the patch, now the CVE is not anymore applied to Joule.
Not a big isue as we are moving to 4.9 soon.

Try with https://gerrit.automotivelinux.org/gerrit/#/c/10293/ applied on-top of master
Procedure:
cd meta-agl
git review -d 10293
cd ..
then a fresh build as usual.
Seems like the Joule uses kernel 4.4 and not 4.8.

Attaching the whole build log and the command script (it does everything) I have used.

hello,
if repo sync --force-sync and remove ./build/tmp does do it.
I expect that you have copy and paste the exact same command that I used (in particular le source with the -f)
If that is the case, you will need to make restart a full fresh build what will take a few hours.
Before that I would retest after a scrict copy and paste of my commend (inbold in my log).

I just tried again on my PC, from repo init, and I still see the error above.
From your log:
>NOTE: Tasks Summary: Attempted 6216 tasks of which 5686 didn't need to be rerun and all succeeded.
I think you just did repo sync, and also bitbake is referring to sstate cache somewhere (so that not all of the tasks needed to rerun)?
I am seeing the below build error only with -m joule target, on master.
AGL CI snapshot for intel-corei7-64 target (not joule) seems to be OK (have daily artifacts):
https://download.automotivelinux.org/AGL/snapshots/master/latest/intel-corei7-64/deploy/images/intel-corei7-64/
One thing I can see is that AGL CI kernel version is linux-yocto 4.8, but my build is 4.4.
And meta-agl/meta-agl-bsp/conf/include/agl_joule.inc says is preferred kernel version is 4.4...
