Are we sure there aren't any out-of-tree users? If there are out-of-tree users then we could just preset the rygel unit to disabled as suggested offline by and then leave it in the build...problem solved. That allows a system integrator to turn it on if they've got a demo that uses it to do something like serve video to an independent seatback display. Much speculation, indeed.

: iirc the openivi was added by you. Do you know if rygel is in use there ?

So there seems to be rygel in the packagegroup and also the lightmediascanner plugin is there.
I don't know if it is actually working (might be now as lms is working ).

At least the

seems to have it at least this in the service file.

Maybe and  has more input.   

But I don't think anything is using it in AGL, this is mostly based no recipe has it in it's DEPENDS
