First analysis:
It turns out that in meta-renesas a lot of gstreamer plugins are created on-the-fly through a script (check gst-plugins-private-libs.inc) . This in turn means unless the base package is required/built, we don't get the 'magic' sub-packages built and the process fails late in the image generation.
