No, I don't see any consequence of adding a new shared folder. The only point I see is that the rest of documentation refers to $HOME/xds-workspace (that is shared by default) and if user chooses to add its own shared folder and clone examples in this new shared folder, it's up to him adapt examples that are based on $HOME/xds-workspace.
