As mentioned before, when we close the browser we get to see the homescreen background, that's normal. The launcher is a different application and it becomes invisible when the browser opens.
To "fix" the reported issue, we should either re-merge the homescreen and the launcher or implement a way to detect that the visible app closed itself and show the launcher instead... Too complicated for this case, specially when the unmodified browser is unlikely to be used in production.

This is because the launcher is never "behind" the running app, but in a different layer. The background behind running apps, and showing the top and bottom bars is the homescreen app.
I don't think we want to fix this. The browser is not expected to be used as it is in production systems.
