It is difficult for a binding to get the rootdir and workdir names.
The current implementation of the rootdir is well suited for C developper but is not well suited to C++ developers that can't use file descriptors easily.
The current implementation of workdir expect that it is the current working directory. It means that an application expecting to change its working directory might have trouble, especially if written in C++.
